This shot from Bud in response to my question about how the waves have been there this summer...
Surf on the South Shore is very weak at best most times.Sets come 2 waves every 20 minutes at best. Parking is a nightmare. The island of Kauai is where I go if time and funds allow. It's bigger on a South there. We've had an unusual summer with a lot of rain and regular swell up until mid June. Been 2-3ft. 3 times since then on this shore and the East shore has always got a reasonable wind swell, onshore with a fair amount of "blue bottle" jellies, but the water's warm and there are spots that handle the wind with little crowd.
Attached is a shot of a sand bank set up on Kauai that can peel off for 1/2k when really good.

Caption: Steve Lis spent time in the outer islands where schools of fish
still spawn.
A note from Bud:
To clarify a misconception about this shot due to a misleading caption. This
isn't Steve Lis. It's Jim Richardson, originally from San Diego and one of the
Big Rock crew. The shot was taken at Honolua Bay Maui. He doesn't kneeboard any
more. Jim's a neighbor of mine. We surf together regularly.
